Networking Kit for Full Service Restaurant

Give a full-service dining room a network built for every ticket, table, and station

A full-service restaurant depends on more than one checkout: servers need dependable handheld or counter connections, printers need to reach the right station, and kitchen and guest devices compete for airspace during the rush. Square’s Full Service Restaurant Networking Kit bundles a rack-mount UniFi Dream Machine SE gateway, a 24-port UniFi Switch Pro 24 PoE, two indoor UniFi U6+ access points, and Ethernet patch cables.

Built for your day-to-day

How it fits your business

It is a strong starting point for a multi-device dining room, bar, and kitchen network, but it is networking infrastructure—not a POS subscription or an installation service. Coverage still depends on the floor plan, wall materials, cabling, internet service, and professional setup needs.

Key capabilities

What you can do

  • Connect a busy front and back of house

The gateway, 24-port switch, and two PoE-capable access points give a restaurant a structured base for Square POS devices, network printers, kitchen equipment, staff devices, and guest Wi-Fi. Square recommends commercial-grade networking and Ethernet where possible.

  • Power access points over the network

The included UniFi Switch Pro 24 PoE has PoE, PoE+, and 60W PoE++ ports, so the included U6+ access points can be hardwired and powered without treating Wi-Fi as a mesh substitute.

  • Plan around restaurant-shaped coverage

Square publishes a roughly 1,000-square-foot coverage assumption per U6+ access point for a square or rectangular single floor with drywall. Long dining rooms, L- or H-shaped spaces, brick, concrete, patios, and kitchen obstructions may require more access points and Ethernet runs.

  • Separate POS traffic from guest traffic

Square’s UniFi guide describes optional VLANs for Square equipment, store operations, and guests. That separation can reduce conflicts when a restaurant has network printers, POS stations, cameras, employee devices, and customer Wi-Fi on the same site.

  • Leave room for growth

A 24-port switch is a practical base for adding wired POS peripherals and other restaurant equipment, while the gateway exposes multiple Ethernet interfaces. Port count is not a guarantee of wireless capacity, internet speed, or suitability for every building.

Product details

What arrives in the kit

The current U.S. product page lists one UniFi Dream Machine SE gateway, one UniFi Switch Pro 24 PoE, two UniFi U6+ indoor access points, two 6-foot white Cat6 RJ45 patch cables, and two 10-foot white Cat6 RJ45 patch cables. The page also offers an optional outdoor access point for an additional $179. The product page’s overview uses a U6 Pro coverage reference once, while its included-parts list identifies U6+ units; buyers should confirm the exact included model at checkout.

Restaurant setup and compatibility

This kit connects Square hardware and supported peripherals through a properly configured local network; it does not replace Square POS hardware, internet service, modem service, Ethernet runs, or a Square account. Square’s setup guidance calls for reliable internet, at least 25 Mbps down and 3 Mbps up, with 100 Mbps down and 20 Mbps up preferred for more connected or complex sites. Network-restricted environments must permit required HTTPS and NTP traffic and should account for Square’s supported Wi-Fi authentication limits: WPA/WPA2 PSK and U.S.-only WEP are supported, while WPA/WPA2 Enterprise and WPA3 are not listed as supported.

Plan, account, and installation considerations

Restaurant operators need an active Square subscription and can use Square for Restaurants Free, Plus, or Premium, or Square Free, Plus, or Premium with advanced restaurant capabilities enabled. Account owners configure the Square account and link a bank account; the networking kit itself does not unlock menus, tables, payments, kitchen display software, or reporting. Square recommends an IT professional for complex installations, and larger or hardwired builds may take a day or more to configure and test.

Current U.S. Square Shop listing: $1,449.00 one time, or $71.00/mo through financing. The financing amount is an installment payment, not a software subscription. Restaurant POS access requires an active Square subscription; published location plan prices are $0/mo for Square Free, $49/mo per location for Square Plus, and $149/mo per location for Square Premium. Taxes, shipping choices, internet service, installation, added access points, and other peripherals can change the total.

Requirements

  • Active Square subscription and a configured Square account for restaurant use.
  • Reliable internet service and modem; Square’s UniFi setup guide states a 25 Mbps down / 3 Mbps up minimum and prefers 100 Mbps down / 20 Mbps up for more complex sites.
  • Account owner or knowledgeable network professional for configuration; complex installations may warrant an IT professional.
  • Cat5e-or-better Ethernet runs and suitable mounting locations for access points; the included patch cables alone may not reach final mounting points.
  • Firewall, DNS, domain filtering, and Wi-Fi authentication configured to Square’s published requirements.

The kit is networking infrastructure; it does not include Square POS devices, payment processing, a Square subscription, internet service, professional installation, or kitchen-display software.

Coverage is site-dependent. Square’s 1,000-square-foot-per-access-point assumption is for a square or rectangular single floor with drywall; brick, concrete, unusual layouts, multiple floors, patios, and dense equipment can require additional access points and cabling.

The current product page contains a U6 Pro coverage reference in its overview but lists U6+ access points in the included contents. Confirm the exact model before publishing a component-specific claim or placing an order.

Square recommends wired connections over Wi-Fi where possible and does not recommend mesh-network setup in its UniFi guidance.

Published payment rates and subscription prices are Square U.S. rates checked on 2026-10-27 and can vary for custom pricing or future plan changes.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Does this kit include Square Restaurant POS software?

No. It supplies UniFi networking hardware and cables. A restaurant still needs an active Square subscription and must configure Square Point of Sale or Square for Restaurants separately.

How large of a restaurant can two included access points cover?

Square describes roughly 1,000 square feet per U6+ access point only for a square or rectangular single-floor area with drywall. A full-service restaurant with a long or irregular floor plan, concrete or brick walls, multiple floors, patio service, or many connected devices may need more access points and professionally planned Ethernet runs.

Can I buy the kit on a monthly plan?

The U.S. product page lists $1,449.00 or $71.00 per month with financing. That monthly figure is an optional credit installment subject to sign-in, credit approval, purchase limits, state exclusions, APR, and other conditions; it is not a recurring Square software fee.
