Pizzerias

Keep every pizza order moving from counter to kitchen to pickup

A pizzeria needs more than a card reader: it needs a menu that handles crusts, sizes, toppings, and add-ons; a kitchen flow that keeps dine-in, pickup, delivery, and marketplace tickets organized; and a fast way to take payment during the rush. Square’s U.S. restaurant tools connect counter and handheld ordering with kitchen tickets, online ordering, customer messaging, reporting, and loyalty.

Built for your day-to-day

How it fits your business

A pizzeria can start on Square Free, then add restaurant features, KDS screens, self-service ordering, or lower processing rates through paid plans. The right setup depends on whether the shop is counter-service, table-service, multi-location, or delivery-heavy.

Key capabilities

What you can do

  • Build a pizza menu customers can customize

Use item and menu management with modifier groups for crust, size, toppings, and add-ons, then keep availability and pricing aligned across the POS, online ordering, kiosks, and delivery channels.

  • Route rush-hour tickets to the right station

Square KDS can receive orders from the POS, Square online ordering, and delivery apps, with ticket layouts, timers, alerts, station routing, and an expeditor view to help a pizza line prioritize work.

  • Take pickup and delivery orders directly

A branded Square online ordering profile supports pickup and local delivery, syncs menus and orders with Square POS, and can reduce marketplace commissions on direct orders; delivery-provider fees can still apply.

  • Move payments to the customer or the queue

Square Register, Terminal, Handheld, and Stand support tap and dip payments, while Handheld can take orders away from the counter. Eligible Square hardware can continue accepting offline payments for up to 24 hours, subject to Square’s reconnection and dispute terms.

  • Turn first-time guests into regulars

Customer profiles, loyalty, gift cards, and marketing tools can use purchase history and ordering behavior to support repeat pizza nights and targeted offers.

A practical pizzeria setup

Use Square Register or Square Stand at the counter, add Square Handheld for line-busting or table-side ordering, and connect a printer or Android KDS at the make line and expeditor station. Square Terminal is a compact option with a built-in receipt printer. Square says hardware is sold separately from the subscription and that compatible existing iPads, printers, cash drawers, and routers may be reusable; check compatibility before buying.

Online ordering without manual re-entry

Square’s branded ordering profile can handle direct pickup and local delivery orders and send them to Square POS and the kitchen. Direct profile orders do not carry marketplace commissions, but online processing still applies and a delivery service provider may charge a separate delivery fee. Third-party delivery apps can also be integrated, so confirm each partner’s commercial terms before relying on it.

Self-service for the front counter

The new Square Kiosk is a $1,999 one-time hardware purchase with a 21.5-inch display, integrated tap/dip/PIN payments, voice and touch ordering, and Square Plus or Premium software at $99 per device per month. It is currently U.S.-only and English-only. Square Kiosk Lite is the lower-cost iPad route: it runs on Square Stand with a compatible iPad and costs $50 per active device per month on Plus or $30 on Premium; Stand and iPad are separate purchases.

Square Free has no monthly subscription cost; Square Plus and Premium are paid per location, with Square Pro custom-priced for businesses processing over $250,000 per year. The official restaurant pricing page shows $49/month per location for Plus and $149/month per location for Premium. KDS and kiosk software are additional per-device charges. Hardware is sold separately.

Offline payments are not risk-free: Square says transactions must be uploaded by reconnecting within 24 hours or they may be declined, and the seller is responsible for expired, declined, or disputed offline payments.

Square KDS is Android-compatible; the official KDS page does not establish compatibility with iPad or iOS devices.

The new Square Kiosk is currently English-only and U.S.-only. In noisy environments, Square recommends touch ordering when voice recognition may be less suitable.

Square Kiosk requires connection to Square POS hardware for kitchen displays, kitchen printers, or receipt printers; direct receipt-printer connection is described as coming soon.

Square Stand’s external accessories cannot be connected directly by Bluetooth, USB, or Ethernet while the Stand is running Square Kiosk Lite, and offline payments are not available in Kiosk Lite mode.

Square’s online-ordering claim of up to 30% marketplace-commission savings is an estimate based on an assumed 30% third-party premium-plan commission, not a guaranteed saving.

Hardware prices exclude applicable taxes and accessories unless the source expressly says otherwise.
